The projects and collaborations we are fortunate to work on involve some amazing makers, chefs, designers, etc. This is the first time we’re involved with a filmmaker, and it was instant love when we saw her Kickstarter campaign.
Namour the Film kickstarter campaign has launched!
The Namour kickstarter campaign has officially launched! See how you can make your dreams come true (or mine) today. I am so excited to see director Heidi Saman make this film. I truly believe it is going to happen, and I am going to pour my energy into this fundraising campaign. A warning: Ex-boyfriends, friends who make me work on your zombie films, friends who have gotten jobs through me, co-workers who I’ve found in hallways passed out drunk in a hallway wearing only boxers and silently led back to their hotel room with no photos or whispers of it at work the next day… watch out! I’m coming for YOUR $5 dollars and you are GOING TO LIKE IT :) Grandma, this means you.
* Context: In 2007 I had the good fortune of going to Cairo, Egypt to shoot the short film of director Heidi Saman entitled ‘The Maid.’ To this day it is one of the things I am most proud of - to be a part of, that we pulled it off, and most importantly, that we made a great film. It went on to have it’s world premiere at the Cannes film festival. I always knew we would make another film together - and that time has come.
Please re-blog this if you would like to support any of the following: Independent filmmakers, Arab-american directors, Female directors, Arab main characters in films, Art films, Creativity in general, Good filmmaking, Letting the ‘little guy’ have a stab at it (chances are we are going to be pretty good at this) - or if you just like Heidi a lot. She’s smart, a good director, fabulous writer - and super hot. But she would never tell you that. She is too busy loving films, dissecting them, enjoying them, loving cinema in general. I want to support her in this pursuit of a creative life, where our stories get to entertain and delight the audience we know is out there, thirsty. You know who you are.
Hot tea on the Nile river in Cairo, Egypt with friends. Sigh. So lovely. We relaxed, watched the sunset and danced to music coming from the boat’s radio. This was after we wrapped shooting the short film with director Heidi Saman, 'The Maid' in Cairo.
Walking through the streets of Delhi, I found Jeff Goldblum’s doppelganger on this wall. I never noticed until now, but the script on the poster is beautiful. Not knowing what it says makes it really easy to appreciate the letters as forms. This was one of my favorite days on our trip to India, just walking around and taking it all in.
